The Office of Student Life offers a unique leadership program.
The Hill Climbers program is designed to offer first-year students a unique opportunity to develop their leadership potential through a year-long experience. During the program participants meet other new students, experience personal growth, build relationships, and participate in a unique community of student leaders. Participants learn more about involvement at Shorter University and prepare for leadership roles in student organizations and campus departments.
Students selected to participate in Hill Climbers participate in a weekend ropes course retreat, a community service project, and a series of bi-monthly leadership workshops focusing on different leadership topics.
These programs are designed to develop leaders on campus who are interested in making a difference in the Shorter University community. Program alums have gone on to have very successful and fulfilling experiences at Shorter and in the years after. Some of their accomplishments include:
- Serving as Presidents of clubs, organizations, and fraternities / sororities.
- Elected into numerous student government and Residence Life positions.
- Leadership program alums have the skills and confidence to take on leadership roles across the Shorter University campus and beyond!
Please note that there is not one type of person or leader who should participate in these leadership programs. A variety of individuals with different life experiences and who are at different levels of their leadership and personal development will benefit from and contribute to the experience. Everyone who is interested is encouraged to apply.
