Celebrate Shorter Highlights Student Success
Rome, Ga. – Three students presented original academic research during the annual Celebrate Shorter event on Wednesday, April 18. Students submitted abstracts for consideration by Shorter’s Honors Committee, which hosts the event. Madison Hunt, Cynthia Wanka, and Kara West were selected to make presentations, while additional students were selected to take part in the poster session that followed.

- Senior Biology major Taylor Barton, who presented “Potter’s Syndrome: Causes, Defects, and Treatment”
- Senior History major Mary Jayne Caum, who presented “Churchill and Rhetoric”
- Senior Ecology and Field Biology and Natural Science double major Christopher Elsey, who presented “Investigation of the presence and identity of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) in the Coosa River and its Rome Tributaries in Floyd County, GA
