Shorter University’s School of Fine and Performing Arts Honors Outstanding Students
Shorter University’s School of Fine and Performing Arts honored outstanding students during its recent end-of-the-year awards program.
- Ellis Gabby Williams, an art major from Dallas, Ga., received the Judy Duke Reed Leadership Award.
- Stella Parker, a theatre major from Gadsden, Ala., received the Excellence in Technical Theatre Award.
- Timothy Mereus, a theatre major from Douglasville, Ga., received the Excellence in Theatre Studies Award.
- Chelsie Burks, a musical theatre major from Waynesboro, Va., received the Rising Sophomore Award in Theatre.
- Sydney Hillman, a musical theatre major from Augusta, Ga., received the Rising Junior Award in Theatre.
- Tonyah Anderson, a musical theatre major from Lithia Springs, Ga., received the Rising Senior Award in Theatre.
- Becky Fowler, a music education major from Carrollton, Ga., received the Ruth Baron Music Education Award.
- Emily Hill, a musical theatre major from Dallas, Ga., and Meredith Howard, a voice performance major from Acworth, Ga., received the Rome Music Lovers Club Scholarship.
- Christina Wade, a clarinet performance major from Rome, Ga., received the Helen Dean Rhodes Scholarship.
- Ruthie Phillips, a music education major from Hiram, Ga., received the James D. Holloway Memorial Music Scholarship.
- Jordan Walker, a piano performance/pedagogy major from Summerville, Ga., received the Lilybell Lavender Smith Scholarship.
- Jonathan Hannah, a church music major from Lawrenceville, Ga., received the Louise McWilliams Christian Scholarship.
- Vashti Baluch, a piano pedagogy major from Hendersonville, N.C., received the Natalie Dyer Reynolds Endowed Music Scholarship.
- Avery Harris, a voice performance major from Rome, Ga., received the Rebekah Clark Cooledge Scholarship.
In addition, students Ashley Phillips, Julian Duncan and Taylor Camp were recognized for being selected for membership in the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. Phillips is a voice performance and music education major from Trenton, Ga. Duncan is a piano major from Kennesaw Ga. Camp is a musical theatre major from Acworth, Ga.
Shorter University’s School of Fine and Performing Arts inducted three spring 2016 graduates into its chapter of the Pi Kappa Lambda honor society. Inductees were Ashley Phillips, Julian Duncan and Taylor Camp.
