Shorter University President Dr. Donald Dowless Announces Retirement After Fifteen Years of Service

ROME, Ga. — After fifteen years of faithful service, Shorter University President Dr. Donald Dowless has announced his retirement, effective at the conclusion of the spring semester when his contract ends in May.
Dr. Dowless described his time at Shorter University as a profound privilege, expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside a dedicated faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees. He and his wife, Teresa, shared their love for the University and appreciation for the prayerful support of the Shorter community.
“Teresa and I love Shorter University; it is a special place because Jesus Christ is at the center of the institution,” said Dr. Dowless. “While this decision was not an easy one, we believe it is the right time. We are deeply thankful for each person who has made our time here so meaningful and for the joy of serving a university that continues to be a lighthouse for those who seek and love Jesus Christ through the ministry of higher education.”
