Rome, Ga. — Shorter University is pleased to announce the selection of Shana Holzer as Sports Information Director for the university’s NCAA Division II athletic program.

“We are excited to have Shana Holzer as part of the Shorter University family,” said Shorter University President Dr. Don Dowless. “She is a talented individual with a love of athletics and who seeks to honor the Lord in all she does. We look forward to her work promoting our athletic accomplishments.”

Holzer comes to Shorter from the University of Missouri, where she served as the Advancement Coordinator for the Tiger Scholarship Fund. During her second year with the fund, they raised a school-record $50.4 million in support of intercollegiate athletics.

“Shana brings a unique set of skills to the SID position,” said Shorter Director of Athletics Tony Lundy. “She has a great vision for a very positive way to promote all our sports. She’s also a wonderful person who is committed to the university’s mission of Transforming Lives through Christ.”

Before joining the University of Missouri staff, Holzer was a dispatcher, administrative assistant, and public safety officer at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus. During this time, she also served as a reserve police officer for the Gahanna Ohio Police Department.

Holzer earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio Dominican, where she was a four-year starting pitcher for the softball team. She met her husband, Blaise, there; he is the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for the Shorter Hawks football team. They welcomed son, Fitz, in July 2014.

“I have been playing sports my whole life and to continue my career in athletics is such a blessing,” Holzer said. “I would like to thank the administration for giving me this opportunity. I am very excited to embrace the Shorter University traditions and grow spiritually and professionally.”
