Dr. John D. Reams serves as Provost at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. He is also a Professor of Music teaching clarinet, saxophone, and woodwind methods. Prior to joining the faculty at Shorter University, Dr. Reams was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. As a clarinetist, he held positions with the Savannah Philharmonic and the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. He has also regularly performed with the Midland-Odessa Symphony (TX), Abilene Philharmonic, Peoria Symphony Orchestra (IL), Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra (IL), Ohio Light Opera Orchestra, and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Reams has been a featured soloist throughout the United States and Canada. Recent appearances include solo performances with the Parris Island Marine Band (clarinet), North Charleston Pops Orchestra (soprano saxophone), Balkan String Quartet (clarinet), and a local performance of the Concerto for Clarinet by Aaron Copland with the Rome Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded for labels including Centaur and Albany Records.
Dr. Reams holds degrees from the University of South Carolina, Florida State University, and the University of Illinois. He lives in Silver Creek, GA with his wife Lisa, and two children, Abigail and Michael.
