Dr. Cathy Hill is an Assistant Professor of Business at Shorter University. She was born and raised in Dublin, Georgia. She earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech along with Executive Certifications from Harvard University and Cambridge University. She received a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Business Administration from Georgia State University.
Prior to Shorter, Dr. Hill worked with Georgia Power for 33 years having held executive positions in customer operations, real estate, transportation, and external affairs. She also founded The Plummer – Hill Group, LLC which provides business and program development services for entrepreneurs and economic development institutions such as Georgia Chamber of Commerce, WorkSource and AARP. Dr. Hill proudly serves as Managing Director with Golden Seeds, Inc. a network of investors for women-led start-ups and on the Board of Directors for Carver State Bank which is one of only 19 Black-owned commercial banks in the United States.
Dr. Hill has held civic leadership roles for economic development authorities, chambers of commerce, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations throughout the southeastern United States. She is a silver star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and a life member of the NAACP. Dr. Hill is a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she serves on the Archives Committee, New Member’s team, Rapture choir, EIST bible study team and as a confirmation mentor. Dr. Hill, her husband Mitchell and their two adult children: Mitchell, Jr. and Candace reside in McDonough, Georgia
