Dr. Amanda Gentry is an Assistant Professor of General Business at Shorter University. Born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development with a Business emphasis from Lee University; where she competed and cheered for four years as a Flames Cheerleader. Mrs. Gentry also holds a Master of Business Administration with a Management concentration from Tennessee Wesleyan University. She received her Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership with a Human Resource Development concentration from Regent University.
Prior to Shorter, Dr. Gentry served in the nonprofit sector for six years helping with grant writing, grant management, fundraising, marketing, volunteer management, and community relations. The nonprofit organizations include the Fellowship of Christian Athletes of the Ocoee Region, the United Way of the Ocoee Region, Project Free 2 Fly, and YMCA YCAP Chattanooga East. She also worked as the Director of Management Excellence for the Goodfriend School of Business at Tennessee Wesleyan University; where she recruited, managed, and advised the program for the business school across three different campuses.
She is actively involved in her research interest which include human resource development, leadership, entrepreneurship, and nonprofit management. In her free time, Dr. Gentry enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Her hobbies include traveling, gardening, golfing, hiking, camping, fishing, or trying new cooking recipes.
