
Nominations Open for the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Awards
Each year, Shorter University recognizes exceptional alumni whose lives and accomplishments reflect the University’s mission and values. We invite fellow alumni to nominate deserving graduates for one of our three Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Nominations are open through Monday, August 31, at 11:59 p.m.
To submit a nomination, please complete the online Distinguished Alumni Award Nomination Form.
Please review the award descriptions and eligibility guidelines before submitting your nomination to ensure the nominee meets the appropriate criteria.
Recipients will be recognized during the Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon.
Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a Shorter University graduate. This award recognizes an alumnus or alumna who has demonstrated outstanding personal achievement, public service, or significant contributions to the global community.
Nominees must have earned a degree from Shorter University and be in agreement with the University’s Mission Statement.
Distinguished Alumni Service Award
The Distinguished Alumni Service Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to Shorter University through leadership, volunteerism, on-campus involvement, student recruitment, or financial support.
Nominees must be in agreement with the University’s Mission Statement and have attended Shorter University for at least two semesters. Individuals who did not complete a degree at Shorter are also eligible if they have made significant contributions to the University through volunteerism or financial support.
Distinguished Young Alumni Award
The Distinguished Young Alumni Award honors a Shorter University graduate from the past ten years who has demonstrated exceptional promise through professional achievement, community service, and dedication to the University while embracing Shorter’s mission.
Nominees must have earned a degree from Shorter University, graduated within the past ten years, and be in agreement with the University’s Mission Statement.
Nomination Guidelines
Anyone may submit a nomination for the Distinguished Alumni Awards.
All nominations must be completed and submitted electronically through the online nomination form by Monday, August 31, at 11:59 p.m.
Please complete all sections of the nomination form. The strongest nominations include detailed information about the nominee’s accomplishments, leadership, service, and impact.
