• Wound Care Specialist

• Nurse Practitioner

• Nurse Educator

The B.S.N. at Shorter University

Shorter University is the perfect place for you to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The nursing program will go hand-in-hand with our mission as a Christian university to serve and minister to the needs of others. In fact, the curriculum will include a medical missions experience that will have you and fellow nursing students serving needy populations both domestically and abroad.

In addition, Shorter University is located in Rome, Georgia, which has been rated No. 1 in health care out of 193 small cities in the United States. Rome is home to more physicians per capita than any other city in Georgia and serves as a health care center for a regional population of more than a half million people. That translates into countless opportunities for internships and hands-on experience in the medical community.

Curriculum

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a four-year degree.  The professional baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) will prepare graduates to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The baccalaureate nursing graduate will use liberal arts courses such as English, Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Growth and Development, History, Political Science, Religion, and Fine Arts as well as the in depth knowledge acquired from courses in Physical and Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, to provide a foundation for practice in a diverse, complex health care environment. The extensive two years of general course work will be incorporated and serve as the foundation for the nursing course work. A complete listing of all courses required can be found in the Shorter University Course Catalog.
