Kennedy Roberts is a costume designer hailing from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Her passion
for costumes led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Theatrical Design at Anderson University.
Kennedy continued her education and obtained her Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design and
Technology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
Throughout her career, Kennedy has showcased her design skills in numerous productions.
Some of her notable works include “Eurydice” by Sarah Ruhl, the timeless tragedy “Othello” by
William Shakespeare, and the delightful comedy “Pouf” by Lou Clyde. Her first off-Broadway
design opportunity came with the production of “Pouf”.
Kennedy’s designs have not gone unnoticed, as she has received several prestigious
accolades. She was awarded first place in the USITT Southeast Collegiate costume design
competition for her outstanding work on “The Skin of Our Teeth” by Thornton Wilder.
Additionally, Kennedy was recognized as the first runner-up in the SETC (Southeastern Theatre
Conference) competition for an unrealized costume design for “Othello” by William
Shakespeare.
One of her most memorable achievements came at SHEFest NYC 2021, where Kennedy’s
exceptional work on “Pouf” by Lou Clyde earned her the titles of Best Costume Design and Best
Hair and Makeup Design. These awards serve as a testament to her creativity, attention to
detail, and ability to bring characters to life through her designs.
Kennedy is thrilled to be joining Shorter University, where she can further nurture her passion for theatrical design and contribute to the vibrant theater community, she looks forward to sharing her expertise and creativity with the students and faculty of Shorter University.
