Shorter University was founded in 1873 as a liberal arts institution, and the College of Arts & Sciences takes that vision to heart. The General Education core is housed primarily in our college, as we help prepare students for the rigor of their chosen majors. In addition, the College of Arts & Sciences is home to over 25 different degrees with diverse majors, including Biology, Chemistry, Christian Studies, Communication Studies, Criminal Justice, Ecology and Field Biology, English, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, Liberal Arts, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Political Science, Psychology, Spanish, and Youth Ministry.
The prestigious Alpha Chi National Honor Society — a Star Chapter seven years running and the only Star Chapter in the state — is also housed in the College of Arts & Sciences. Membership is by invitation, and the university has enjoyed national recognition with multiple convention and scholarship winners.
Moreover, the Shorter Honors Academy is a part of the College of Arts & Sciences. The Academy offers a challenging environment for talented and intellectually gifted students, no matter their major. The students also enjoy an exclusive Superheroes study lounge where they can study and interact with an elite community of scholars.
Come for a visit, meet some professors, and talk to our students. You will see for yourself that this is the place to be!
Your future begins now!
