I would like to welcome you personally to one of the finest Schools of Fine & Performing Arts in the southeast! Whether it’s the success of a student who is singing with an opera company or teaching music in a classroom or a church, one who is working in animation with Disney, or a student who is acting and singing in a musical in London, Shorter students and graduates are our best advertisement.
In the music, theatre, art, and dance departments, students can study voice performance, piano performance and pedagogy, music education, church music, theatre and technical theatre, musical theatre, and two- and three-dimensional visual arts. You will also have multiple opportunities to perform in bands, choirs, operas, and theatre/musical theatre productions.
All of our School of Fine & Performing Arts students study with faculty members, not graduate students, who are well trained and experienced in their fields. Students benefit from the low teacher to student ratio and you’ll spend more time one-on-one with your professors than at most institutions. Our faculty will give you solid, practical advice about your career in the arts too, because they know what it takes for success.
If you are considering a career in the fine and performing arts, we can help you turn your passion into a lifelong pursuit. We always welcome you and your parents to visit us on campus. You might want to visit classes, talk to students and professors, and see for yourself what Shorter has to offer. We know this is an excellent place to receive the best education possible in a challenging, supportive, and Christ centered environment. We’ll look forward to seeing you “on the Hill”!
