The Miss Shorter College scholarship pageant provides a forum for Shorter College women to express their viewpoints, talents and accomplishments to Shorter College and to the public-at-large during the ensuing year. All contestants are in the process of completing a bachelors degree, and the winner will use the Miss Shorter scholarship award towards her education.
To become Miss Shorter College, a contestant must display her best qualities, which is a process that requires personal commitment, hard work and talent.
The winner of the Miss Shorter College Scholarship Pageant receives a $1,000 scholarship. The first runner-up receives a $750 scholarship. The second runner-up receives a $500 scholarship.
There are four phases of the Miss Shorter College Scholarship Pageant:
1. Presentation and achievement in a private interview (25%)
2. Talent and artistic expression (35%)
3. On-stage interview (15%)
4. Evening wear competition (25%)
