GENERAL ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL STUDIES
The Professional Studies program targets career-oriented and goal-oriented professionals who are seeking personal and professional growth.
Undergraduate (Associate's or Bachelor's Degree)
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be employed and possess at least two years of significant full-time work experience in an occupation or endeavor related to the degree program
- Must submit two letters of recommendation from persons qualified to judge the applicant's professional expertise, character and capacity for college level study
- Must submit proof of high-school graduation or GED certificate if an applicant has not previously attended a higher education institution
- Must submit official transcripts from all higher education institutions attended
- Applicants whose native language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency in English by scoring at least 500 within the past two years on the TOEFL examination
Master's Degree (Master of Arts- Major in Leadership)
- A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 for the last 60 hours attempted
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Current results on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for applicants whose native language is not English. A minimum paper score of 550 or a computer-based score of at least 213 is required.
- Candidates with an insufficient undergraduate GPA may submit the results from the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) to adjust their application. For students who take the GMAT, the following formula shall apply: GPA x 200 points + GMAT score must equal 1000 points.
- A current resume documenting at least three years of relevant full-time work experience
- Two letters of recommendation from employers, instructors or others in a position to evaluate the applicant's ability to handle graduate work in leadership
- A personal statement of objectives that emphasizes how the completion of the MA degree would impact the applicant's professional performance and career goals
- The applicant may also include additional supporting documents that would assist the admissions committee in evaluating the potential success of the applicant
- Demonstration of the ability to address a relevant organizational issue by completing an essay in response to the vignette below. The essay should be 2-4 pages explaining how the manager in this situation should proceed. The essay 12-point font, double spaced and typed.
