HISTORY OF OUR PROFESSIONAL STUDIES PROGRAMS

What is now called Shorter College Professional Studies taught its first courses in October, 1992. Beginning initially in the Marietta area of Metropolitan Atlanta, Professional Studies expanded to include campus locations in Lawrenceville and Riverdale, Georgia, as well as on the main campus in Rome.

Offering undergraduate and graduate courses in business from 1992 to 2003 as the School of Professional Programs, the program was extended to other schools of Shorter College in December of 2003.

Since all of the programs could no longer be contained under one school, the School of Professional Programs was renamed the School of Business. Professional Studies currently describes the programs in a non-traditional format. Shorter now offers courses in a format specifically designed for working adults in the School of Business, the School of Education and Social Sciences, and the School of Religion and International Programs.
