Known on Facebook as the woman with the red beret topped with a white parrot in Seoul. Carmen Acevedo Butcher has been a member of the Shorter College faculty since 2002, currently serving as the scholar-in-residence. Her recent publications include Man of Blessing: A Life of St. Benedict, which was released in March 2006 by Paraclete Press and reprinted in May 2006, and God of Mercy: Ælfric’s Sermons and Theology, which was released in 2006 by Mercer University Press. In spring 2007, she released her latest work, “Hildegard of Bingen: A Spiritual Reader,” through Paraclete Press. She has also published a number of poems and essays in collections and journals. The Chimes is the student-produced magazine of poetry, prose and artwork created by Shorter College students, faculty, staff and community members.
