| COLLECTION AND RESERVE SERVICES
The Shorter College Libraries' collection and services support the research needs of current students, faculty, and staff of Shorter College. Shorter College alumni retain library privileges for all services except interlibrary loan. Residents of Floyd County may apply for a community patron card which gives limited access to the collection and services of the Shorter College Libraries.
The loan period for books is four weeks. Materials may be renewed unless they are needed by another patron; materials may not be renewed over the phone except for SPP students.
Fines for overdue books are five cents per day with a maximum fine of $5.00 per book. Fines for other library materials accrue at higher and varying rates depending on the type of material (e.g. reserves, periodicals).
The GALILEO password changes quarterly. When you request the GALILEO password, we must, due to contractual agreements, verify that you are either a current student or a faculty/staff member. Alumni and community patrons should contact their local public library for the GALILEO password.
PLEASE NOTE: While there is a core set of databases that is available on GALILEO to all libraries, you will find that the databases available on GALILEO vary from library to library, particularly among public libraries and academic libraries.
Except for books relating to DANTES testing, there is no limit to the number of books that may be checked out. Only two DANTES books per subject may be checked out.
Periodicals may circulate overnight at the Livingston Library/Rome campus if checked out during the last two hours the library is open and must be returned within the first hour of opening the following day.
Reference books do not circulate.
Videotapes, CD's, and most other audio-visual materials may not be checked out by students for use outside the library.
Provided a reservation has been made with a librarian, some audio-visual equipment may be checked out to students for classroom use when authorized by the faculty member teaching the course. The library's audio-visual collection includes the following: laptops, projectors, screens, an easel, and a video camera.
