A significant part of our Wellness Program involves the opportunity for physical fitness and exercise.  Shorter has contracted with the Rome Athletic Club (RAC) to be our fitness facility. RAC is open 24 hours a day. For our safety, they will provide card entry and camera surveillance.

Some general guidelines are:

  • You will need to show your Shorter ID in order to register and become a member.
  • Members from Shorter may use the equipment anytime except from 4:00-6:30 PM Monday-Friday. This is the peak time for non-Shorter members.
  • Always be respectful and courteous to the RAC employees and other RAC members.
  • Always treat the facility and the equipment with care. We break it, we buy it.
  • Always dress appropriately; use common sense in what will or won’t be offensive to other members.

Operation RAC 1000 BOOT CAMP
New Date TBA

Open to all students, faculty and staff

Operation RAC 1000 is an interval based workout that is designed to challenge and motivate all levels of fitness. Countless studies prove that the most dramatic way to change your body is through interval training, alternating high and relatively low intensity exercise. Operation RAC 1000’s unique interval-based workout “shocks” the body out of its comfort zone, and has you continually burning calories for the next 24 hours!

A Rome Athletic Club trainer will be on the Shorter University Campus to take you through challenging yet extremely effective workouts outside and you will have the time of your life doing it! There is no more effective, efficient or exciting way to change how you look, feel and perform.

Ready for the most fun you have ever had exercising and a life changing experience or just have questions?
