2010 SUMMER MISSION TRIPS

NORTH AFRICA

The Shorter BCM traveled to Northern Africa (The Horn of Africa) in May 2010

The team went to work with a Shorter Alum who has served in this part of Africa the past two years, Erin Oxford. The team consisted of David Roland, David Dockery, Lee Kelley, & Hannah Lucas. The team was able to visit the homes of friends that Erin mad during her time there.  We also led a carnival for children at a local private school.  We played “Go Fish”, made balloon animals, painted faces, & made visors. Another day we helped out in different classrooms with homework and teaching. We gave out a lot of Shorter items such as pens, pennants, & t-shirts which were given to us by Admissions. The team experienced several coffee ceremonies along with a wedding ceremony that lasted for several days.

The Shorter BCM hopes to adopt this country and city where we worked in prayer this year.  It is our goal that we might be able to send another team next year.

The Shorter BCM Leadership team is studying the book, “Living on Mission” a study of different passages in Acts.  I am hoping through this study that our BCM will even be more “Spirit led” in our living and actions on and off the campus.
