Dr. Sabrena Parton joined the faculty of Shorter University in 2006 as an Associate Professor of Communication. Her scholarship, managerial talents, personal communication skills, and commitment to teaching excellence quickly led to promotion to Dean of the School of Liberal Arts in 2007, now the College of Arts and Sciences. In 2009, she also received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship. Prior to joining the faculty at Shorter, Dr. Parton held faculty positions as Associate Professor at Berry College and Kennesaw State University.

In addition to her teaching experience, Dr. Parton has held executive positions, including Director of the Center for Organizational Communication William Carey College of the Coast. She has also worked as a consultant and Constituent Services Officer for the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission. Dr. Parton is a published author in her areas of scholarship and research, including organizational communication, speech style effects, leadership, communication theory, persuasion, and conflict resolution.
