With the curtain opening in New York City, Guys and Dolls introduces us to a cast of legendary characters. Sarah Brown is out to reform the evildoers of Times Square while Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love. Adelaide and Nathan Detroit have been engaged her 14 years, and perhaps it is her continued unmarried status that brings out Adelaide’s chronic illness. With numbers like “ Adelaide’s Lament,” “Luck Be a Lady,” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” it’s no wonder that the score has kept audiences coming back for more than 50 years!
