Discover Your True Voice at Shorter University

Spend two weeks as a voice student studying with some of the greatest voice teachers in the country. Immerse yourself in a range of vocal styles – from classical to musical theatre in five private hour-long lessons*.

Sing solo and ensemble repertoire with other talented young singers from all over the Southeast. Explore all of the important skill sets necessary to actually major in vocal music in a university setting.

Voice students

The flagship of Shorter University’s music program has always been the voice department. The exceptional teacher-student ratio along with a world class faculty sets the stage for an outstanding experience. This your opportunity to find YOUR voice in one of the most encouraging but challenging programs around.


THE PROGRAM

Private vocal and classroom training are offered at all levels of expertise.

  • Explore various vocal styles from classical (art song/opera) to musical theatre – you can choose what your focus is
  • Classes in music theory, history, keyboard and ear training
  • Learn audition techniques for a variety of auditions (musicals, college, competitions, etc.)
  • Sing in a chorus lead by our distinguished choral faculty and play in the hand bell choir
  • Attend exceptional faculty concerts
  • Enhance your musical network and create important relationships with teachers, colleagues and friends
  • Work one on one with a professional actor

 * You may request five additional half-hour lessons at an additional charge.
