Do You Have A Love Of Music, Musical Theatre Or Theatre?

“I came to Shorter University because they have an amazing reputation for their vocal program. The music department consistently strives for excellence. As a young musician, it is important that you are in a nurturing environment and Shorter University is truly the place to be.”

- Jasmine Habersham, Voice Performance Major

Is Being An Individual Important To You?

“Shorter educates the whole person. Here, professors appreciate your strengths and clearly establish your weaknesses so that you can work on them together. The faculty and staff are concerned with the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being of the students and often go out of their way to make sure students are taken care of. At Shorter, students are not simply students. They are part of a family whose members each make their own special contributions to Shorter’s history.”

- Hope Moore, Music Education Major

Do You Strive For Musical Excellence?

THE EXCELLENCE CONTINUES

Shorter University School of Fine & Performing Arts

In addition to providing the community with extraordinary musical, theatrical and artistic events, Shorter University continues to be one of the finest art schools in the Southeast. The School of Fine & Performing Arts historically has helped create some of the most successful and internationally recognized musicians, actors and artists working today.

Here, at Shorter University, students are given an opportunity to perform and feature their work the minute they walk on campus. Our world-class faculty, 85 percent of whom have terminal degrees, are not only well-trained in their disciplines, but many are also still working and performing artists. Thanks to our low student-to-teacher ratio, our students spend more time one-on-one with professors than in most academic institutions.

Do You Strive For Musical Excellence?

“Shorter University’s musical reputation is enough to drive its musicians to excellence. We all share its history and traditions together, creating a bonded environment. If this is not enough, though, the high expectations of the professors or the friendly competition amongst students should do the trick in inspiring hard work.”

- Mary Diesch, Vocal Performance Major

Here, at Shorter University, students are given an opportunity to perform and feature their work the minute they walk on campus. Our art, music, and theater departments have approximately 400 students in a variety of undergraduate degree programs. All of these students study with faculty members, not with graduate students. Our world-class faculty, 75 percent of whom have terminal degrees, are not only well-trained in their disciplines, but many are also still working and performing artists.
