Welcome to Shorter College’s chapter website for the Collegiate Music Educators’ National Conference (CMENC) and the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA)! We hope that you not only find this site as a useful tool to learn about CMENC/ACDA at Shorter, but also as a chance to see the quality of Shorter’s music education department and the students’ involvement in their education.

It is the purpose of CMENC and ACDA to advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all, and to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. At Shorter University, we strive to surpass that which is expected of us as music educators.

Becoming a member of CMENC/ACDA at Shorter enables students to pursue professional involvement with two national organizations: the National Association for Music Education (MENC), the national professional organization for public school music educators, and the American Choral Directors Association, the national professional organization for choral directors. Each year, students are also given the opportunity to attend State, Regional, and National conferences hosted by MENC and ACDA, as well as other conferences hosted by colleges throughout the nation.
