Ms. Sherri Seiden
Adjunct Instructor of Music - Voice
Soprano Sherri Seiden, known for her sparkling voice, has graced stages across four continents. A versatile and multi-faceted artist, M55s. Seiden has performed effortlessly in the genres of Opera, Concert, and Musical Theater. Her first CD of Operetta highlights called, Lover Come Back, recorded with the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra, and conducted by Peter McCoppin will be released worldwide.
Ms. Seiden made her Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist in the Brahmsand Rutter Requiems conducted by John Rutter. With much success , Ms. Seiden and Maestro Rutter were reunited for an encore performance in 2008, 2010 and May 2011. Regarding Ms. Seiden’s performance Mr. Rutter was quoted as saying, “With confidence and secure technique, Ms. Seiden filled the hall with a serenely beautiful sound much admired by choristers and audience alike.” In the Fall of 2012 Ms.Seiden performed as soloist in Carmina Burana with The Michael O’Neil Singers, Atlanta. During the 2010/2011 Season , Ms. Seiden performed the role of the Queen of the Night with Greensboro Opera, and was quoted “Seiden’s aria was absolutely mesmerizing” [Yes Weekly], Valery Ryvkin conducting.
Season engagements include performances with the National Philharmonic in Washington, D.C. , a program that includes Mozart’s Requiem, Bach Cantata #51 “Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen,” Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Mendelssohn Symphony #2, conductors Stan Entgebretson and Pedga Gosta. The Sentinel was quoted” This piece really belongs to the soprano soloist Sherri Seiden, especially her virtuoso entrance in the Kyrie and Gloria”. In April, she has performed as featured soloist in the Horatio Algers Awards at Constitutional Hall in Washington, D.C. June performances include soloist of Rutter Requiem at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.
Other opera performances include Stella in Andre Previn’s A Street Car Named Desire at the Tennessee Williams Festival in Provincetown, Mass.,Jake Heggie’s At the Statue of Venus in Atlanta, Georgia,Rosina in theBarber of Sevillewith Florida’s Treasure Coast Opera and Amor in Gluck’s Orfeowith the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera.
Concert appearances include: a nationally televised solo performance in Shenyang, China with the Liaoning Symphony; Mississippi Symphony 2011 with Crafton Beck , conductor, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall; Attila Glatz Concerts New Year’s Day 2007; the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic both conducted by Edvard Tchivzhel; Mozart Requiemwith the Elysium Chamber Orchestra; and gala concerts with the Hamilton Symphony and Toronto Festival Orchestra in Ontario, Canada conducted by Boris Brott.
As an original cast member of the First National Touring Company of the Broadway show Beauty and the Beast,Sherrialso had the opportunity to perform the role of Christine in the European tour of Phantom.
Ms. Seiden was a first place winner of the Regional Metropolitan Opera Competition and a National Grand Finalist. She completed a post-graduate program with the University of Toronto’s Opera Division, received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory of Music,also trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.
