Kathy Newman earned her MFA in Theatre Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006. She became a member of Phi Kappa Phi and served on the President’s Council.
Prior to teaching at Shorter, Kathy was in Seattle where she worked as an actress and taught in a professional studio. She spent many years in NYC working and studying. Many of the venues she worked in included stage, film, television and she has one national commercial to her credit. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, and is a working finalist at the prestigious Actors Studio in New York. In 2006 she was awarded best classical actress through the National Partners-American Theatre at the KCACTF competition.
Her most recent achievement is playing the principle role in “Unseen Abilities”, a film that is being submitted to Sundance and Cannes film festivals in the short category. |
