Dr. Fred Tarrant, Associate Professor of Music, joined the faculty in the fall of 2004. Dr. Tarrant earned his Ph.D. in musicology from Indiana University in 2000.

His research and principal teaching interests include Anglican church music, 19th and 20th-century symphonic music, piano music, and Asian musics. He has presented papers for the Society for Seventeenth-Century Music and the Midwest Chapter of the American Musicological Society.

He is currently developing a Javanese gamelan ensemble for the music department, and in June, 2006, co-lead a group of students to Southeast Asia for the International Studies Program.
