| LEARNING COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS | ||

2010-2011 LC 1 – Volunteered with Rome History organizations, cemetery clean-up, etc. LC 3 – Four groups with various service: Madden tournament and donated funds to soup kitchen, cookout donated money to Mals Pals, mentored children through local Christian nonprofit, costume contest with funds donated to soup kitchen LC 4 – Shadowed and assisted Shorter’s food service and housekeeping employees for four hours individually LC 5 – This section did not exist. It was cancelled before the semester began. Students changed to other learning communities and completed community service projects as described. LC 6 – Sponsored haunted house with proceeds benefiting St. Jude’s LC 7 – Multiple service opportunities with Optimist Club, Boys/Girls Club, and Coosa River Basin initiative LC 8 – Volunteered with local churches to put on Veggie Tales nights for children’s ministries LC 9 – Coordinated a charity basketball game at Shorter with $6,000 of proceeds to support breast cancer research LC 10 – Put on a fall festival and dance for the clients of Network Day services LC 11 –Hosted event for Open Door Home LC 12 – Volunteered at the community kitchen LC 13 – Sponsored a guest speaker on campus and led a campus-wide voter registration drive
2011-2012 LC 1 – Completed first-hand archives work for Shorter LC 2 – Hosted dinner & game night to Open Door Home LC 3 – Volunteered with Jesus in the Park (food distribution event) LC 4 – Put on a Fall Festival that raised funds for St. Jude's LC 5 – Participated in SIFE’s canned food drive LC 6 – Completed a river clean up with local non-profit
LC 7 – Volunteered with Jesus in the Park (food distribution event)
LC 8 – Planned clean-up at Paradise Gardens but cancelled for weather LC 9 – Volunteered with Jesus in the Park (food distribution event) LC 10 – Hosted a guest speaker on campus about importance of voting LC 11 – Volunteered with local Christian concert LC 12 – Provided holiday gifts for needy families LC 13 – Provided holiday food for needy families LC 14 – Organized breast cancer awareness basketball fundraiser
LC 15 – Hosted a princess tea party for needy children
LC 16 – Participated in the annual Holiday Ball Drive for the Boys & Girls Club
LC 17 – Volunteered at 5k race, stuffed packets for breast cancer, volunteered at carnival for Red Ribbon Week
LC 18 – Planned to sing at nursing home; event delayed because timing more appropriate in spring LC 19 – Trained to be mentors for middle school students LC 20 – Participated in SIFE’s canned food drive
