I love to hear directly from students and alumni what Shorter has meant to them and everyone in attendance at the North Atlanta campus really got a treat tonight.  The current students and alumni who spoke about how Shorter has changed them both as individuals, but also how it has positively impacted their earnings was great.  All of the folks in attendance were super friendly and very encouraging to one another.

In addition to the College of Adult & Professional Studies students and alumni in attendance there were a few traditional program alumni in attendance including my college roommate Tony which was great to see.

One professional studies alum that I was fortunate enough to meet was Leon Staples who graduated from our MBA program. Leon works at Georgia State University and has assured me that he will be wearing his Blue and White on Sept. 2 as Shorter takes on GSU in the Georgia Dome. (In case you were wondering GSU is also Blue and White)

North Atlanta = Great Day

Don't take the law into your own hands: you take 'em to court."

This evening's event at the North Atlanta campus was awesome. There were wonderful testimonials shared by three students. You'd think that hearing testimonials of people's love for Shorter would get slightly old or diluted after a while, but I can tell you that they surely do not! Everyone's story is different and that is what makes them so interesting and wonderful!

On another note, I am SO over the Varsity! I won't be eating it for another year at least! It's already one of those restaurants that you can really only have once a year anyways, and after tomorrow, I will have had it 3 different times! Ha! Ha! But it is okay simply because it is new to everyone at each event. And everyone is loving those chili dogs! So North Atlanta = great people, great food and great times!

Over and out,

Mal

Tonight was fun, and we had another great turnout. About 150 people came through to eat some Varsity and pick up their Shorter goodies. I was really impressed by the number of alumni that came back for the program, including a good handful that graduated from the traditional campus in Rome.

If you haven’t had the chance to join us yet, our formal program includes testimonials by current or alumni students at each professional studies campus. Tonight we had three people that shared how their lives had been forever changed by their choice to attend Shorter. All three were great, but I have to mention how wonderful of a job Chris Ebert did. A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Management, he really was fantastic! He is a small business owner that statistically showed how his business has grown each year since he enrolled in the program. This year, his business is yet again on target to break record sales. What an amazing story he has! Wish we had a video camera—Ya’ll would have loved it too!

Shout outs go to Harry Brock, Katie Cannon Rouse and Chukwunwike “Greg” Agbasiere who stopped by. Harry, a Roman and Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce chairperson is a wonderful person, friend of mine and Shorter University! If everyone had his sense of community support I can’t imagine how wonderful this world would be. You’re the best Harry!! Katie and I graduated from Shorter in 2004. Great friends in college and still today! Katie is a friend to everyone and most importantly she goes out of her way to support her friends. Thanks for coming to see me and support our Alma Mater! I am currently working on my Masters of Arts in Leadership, and when I started back in April 2009 Greg was in my Cohort. He then decided to transfer to the North Atlanta campus since it was closer to his home. It was really nice to see him and to check up on his progress. We are both still on schedule to graduate together in December.

Tomorrow is our last campus tour! We will be at the Lawrenceville Campus. Even if you haven’t RSVP’d come and see us! I promise you will have fun and walk away with some new Shorter U gear!

Till next time,

Rachel
