July 25 - Dr. Alan Wingard plays Shorter College's new SK-5 Shigeru Kawai six-foot, six-inch artist grand piano, purchased with a gift from Bob and Kathy Engeman. The gift has also allowed Shorter to purchase an SK-EX Shigeru Kawai nine-foot full concert grand piano. The full concert grand piano is being handcrafted in Japan and should be delivered to Shorter by the end of 2007.

Renee Hultgren talking to media

Wednesday, July 18 - Renee Hultgren, championship events administrator for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), spoke to local media on July 12 during her site visit to Rome and Barron Stadium, home of the Shorter College Hawks.

Shorter College and the Rome community pulled out all the stops last week to
present the area as a prospective host site for the NAIA National Football Championship
games in 2008 and 2009.

Athletic director Bill Peterson and his staff showed Ms. Hultgren the nearby downtown area, practice field accommodations, and tourism capabilities, not to mention Shorter’s overall commitment as a host college of the championship games.

July 11, 2007 - Current Lady Hawks basketball player Whitney Evans helps out at the girls summer basketball camp, led by Coach Vic Mitchell. This is the third week of the 5-day camp, which is held each summer in Shorter's Winthrop-King Centre.

Laying brick pavers in front of Sheffield-Thompson building

Thursday, July 5 – Work continues on the area in front of the Sheffield-Thompson building. This facelift is designed to improve the area, which serves as a “front door” to the college.

Currently, crews are placing brick pavers around the fountain. Afterwards, polyurethane sand will be poured to finalize the layout.
