February 25 - Dr. Ellen Griffith Spears was the featured speaker Tuesday morning
for Shorter College’s bi-annual Whitworth-Muldrow Lectureship. Spears, a fulltime
member of the Department of Environmental Studies and a visiting professor of
liberal arts at Emory University, spoke to students, faculty and staff on the topic of
“Gender, Justice and American Environmental History.”

February 18 - Three members of the Shorter College staff, all breast cancer survivors, threw out the first pitch at the inaugural"Striking Out Breast Cancer" baseball game on February 14.

February 11 - Shorter College celebrated Black History Month with a special chapel service Tuesday morning. Shorter alumni Will Givens gave the message and the Shorter Chapel Choir presented a special selection of music. The choir is an eight-student ensemble led by Shorter student Justin Davis.

February 4 - Shorter College’s Dean of Nursing Dr. Vanice Roberts, far left, discusses curriculum planning with nursing faculty Dr. Jeanette C. Bernhardt, RN and Roxanne Johnston, MSN, RN. Located off campus on Riverbend Drive, the School of Nursing will offer its first class in the fall of 2010. Currently, the school’s classrooms and faculty offices are being renovated and readied for next year’s launch date.
