APRIL 2008

April 30 - Conference Champs! The Shorter College men's track and field team
and the Lady Hawks softball team recently won conference titles for a strong
standing at the end of the semester.
In their first year of membership, Shorter's men's track and field team
captured first place at the Mid-South Conference's championship meet. The
Hawks finished with 251 points, broke 18 conference records and won 21
individual events. In the photo, the Hawks took first in the 4x400 relay.
Next, the Hawks will compete in the Georgia Invitational on May 9 and the
NAIA Outdoor National Track and Field Championships in St. Louis, Mo., on
May 22-24.
For the first time in their five-year history, the Lady Hawks softball
players are the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) champions.
Shorter beat Lee University on April 26 to win four straight tournament
games and be named champions. The Lady Hawks continued to use the strength
of pitcher and SSAC freshman of the year Libby Munson and a powerful offense
to take their 19th straight win of the season. The ninth-ranked Lady Hawks
will travel to the Region XIII Tournament on May 6-8.

April 9 - Mmmmmm - mmmmmm! The rich aromas of delicious food filled the Eubanks Room and nearby hallways on Thursday, April 3, as many of Shorter's international students prepared traditional dishes from their home countries to share with members of the Shorter community.
More than 50 students, faculty, staff and guests enjoyed the annual "Food from Around the World" event. Approximately six percent of Shorter’s traditional student body is made up of international students. Click here to see their countries of origin.
