Dr. Donald Dowless Press Conference & Staff Meet and Greet

February 10, 2011 - The Shorter University Board of Trustees has elected Dr. Donald V. Dowless as Shorter’s 19th president effective June 1, 2011. The board approved the recommendation of the Presidential Search Committee in naming Dr. Dowless as president.

He will succeed Dr. Harold E. Newman, who in June of last year announced his plans to retire from the presidency. Dr. Newman became Shorter College’s 18th president on Jan. 26, 2006. At the time of his appointment, he had served the college as provost for 20 years under four presidents and had served as interim president since Jan. 1, 2005.
