Shorter University launches new admissions website

December 4, 2012 - Shorter University has launched a newly redesigned website for its traditional admissions program. The site, launched Monday, Dec. 3, is online at admissions.shorter.edu.

In addition to information on the university and its programs, the site offers prospective students a customizable admissions experience that will guide registered users through the admissions process.

“Our aim with the new site is to the streamline the admissions process for prospective students and to give them the information to match their needs at each step along the way,” said Patrick McElhaney, director of admissions at Shorter.

In addition, the site prominently features eight video tours that provide an overview of the Shorter University experience. The video topics are All about Shorter, Academics, Faith, Campus Life, Residence Life, Athletics, Service in Action, and Learning Communities. Dynamic content links the page directly to the university’s official Twitter and Facebook feeds.

“The multimedia content of the new site allows prospective students to experience Shorter for themselves,” McElhaney added. “The videos feature current students sharing about the various aspects of university life and the reasons they chose Shorter.”

Having students tell the Shorter story is designed to reflect the heart of the university, according to University President Dr. Don Dowless. “All of the work that we do at Shorter is designed to enrich the lives of our students and to offer them an experience focused on our mission of Transforming Lives through Christ,” he said. “It is our hope that the new website communicates that commitment for prospective students in a vibrant way.”

The site was developed by Third Wave Digital in collaboration with Shorter’s Offices of Admissions, Public Relations, and Information Technology. This is the first redesign of the admissions website since 2010.
