Shorter University's Arnold Art Gallery to host exhibit by senior Angelica McClain

April 17, 2012 - The Arnold Art Gallery at Shorter University will host a senior art exhibition by Angelica McClain April 23 through 28.

The exhibit, titled “Eight Arms to Hold You,” is presented in fulfillment of the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art at Shorter. McClain utilizes clay to express various influences. In her artist’s statement, she said, “By not restricting myself to conventional means and materials, I allow my faith to instruct development spontaneously. My interaction with this humble material elevates it and assigns a purposeful destiny. I believe this is the purposeful destiny that God has assigned to me. My art is a personal reflection of influences whileexploring textures, color, and activation of space.”

A reception for the artist will be held at 6 p.m. on April 23 in the Arnold Art Gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
