Shorter University voice professor accepted into national internship; awarded first place at state competition

March 14, 2012 - Shorter University voice professor Dr. Chuck Chandler was recently accepted into an internship hosted by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). The internship willtake place this summer at Colorado State University.

NATS pairs internationally renowned master teachers with promising young teachers with less than five years of full time experience in order to enhance their teaching. Each intern will teach two students over the course of 10 days under the direct supervision of their master teacher, as well as receiving voice lessons and taking part in master classes given by the master teachers.

Dr. Chandler was also selected as a first-place winner in the Georgia NATS Artist Awards auditions. For this audition, singers under the age of 35 compete by performing an entire recital program of varying styles and languages or repertoire. Because of his win, Dr. Chandler will now advance to regional NATS Artist Award auditions in Mobile, Ala.; the regional competition will take place at the end of March.
