High school graduates awarded Shorter University’s Presidential Scholarship
June 6, 2011 - Recent high school graduates were awarded the Shorter University Presidential Scholarship. They will begin classes at Shorter in August 2011.
The Presidential Scholarship provides tuition for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must hold at least a 3.75 grade point average and a 1200 SAT (Critical Reading & Math) or 26 ACT score. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average at Shorter. Shorter’s fall semester begins August 18.

Hannah Green is the daughter of Gregory and Alice Green of Calhoun. She is a recent graduate of Calhoun High School and was the President of Beta Club, Treasurer of the National Honor Society and competed in gymnastics throughout her high school career. She received the 2010 Calhoun High School Outstanding Student of the Year: Human Growth and Development Award and the 2010 Calhoun Woman’s Club Student of the Month Award. Green is currently a training team coach and a class coach for the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Department. |

Mallory Waller is the daughter of Jeff and Marsha Waller of Dothan, Ala. She is a recent graduate of Rehobeth High School where she was president of the National Honor Society, the vice president of the Rehobeth Key Club, and the secretary of the Rehobeth Ambassadors. Waller was also a nominee for the Bryant-Jordan Scholar Athlete award. |

Nicollette Baldwin is the daughter of Eddie and Eteva Baldwin of Adairsville. She is a recent graduate of Model High School and was involved in varsity competitive and football cheerleading. She was voted 2011 Miss Model High School. Her honors include the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit, membership in the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Academic Excellence Award from Floyd County Association for Academic Excellence. Baldwin was chosen for the Board of Superintendant’s Advisory Committee and served as an ambassador to Model High School through the Miss Model pageant. |

Anna Hopper is the daughter of Patrick and Melissa Hopper of Rome. She is a recent graduate of Coosa High School and lettered in soccer and cross country. She was the valedictorian, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout her high school career. Hopper received the Georgia Certificate of Merit award and was nominated for the Governor’s Honors in Social Studies award. |

Gwen Gabey is the daughter of Michael and Jennifer Gabey of Rome. She is a recent graduate of Pepperell High School and was a member of the varsity track team, Key Club, the National Honor Society and the Future Business Leaders of America. She was an advanced placement scholar, receiving high honors throughout her high school career. Gabey was named a Georgia Merit Scholar and graduated in the top five percent of her class. |
