Shorter University's SIFE named 2011 league champion
May 20, 2011 - Shorter University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Chapter is the 2011 Champion for its league, which comprises Southern schools of the same size and time working with the international non-profit organization. SIFE works globally to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while learning to be socially responsible business leaders.
“The competition includes our presentation of our annual report that shows how we have addressed the three P’s of profit, people and planet,” said Nancy Mount, who, as the Sam Walton fellow at Shorter, heads the SIFE chapter.
SIFE’s activities during the past year include hosting a financial management seminar for sophomores, working to improve the environmental impact of the Homestead Restaurant through the Sam’s Environmental Challenge, and collecting more than 6,000 cans in the Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger event. SIFE also worked to raise awareness of food waste on campus and in the community.
The award qualifies Shorter’s team to take part in SIFE’s national competition.
