Exhibit highlights work of Shorter University student Brayden Huskey
November 12, 2010 - Shorter University senior Brayden Huskey will present an art exhibit Nov. 15 through Nov. 19 in the university’s Arnold Art Gallery. Her exhibit, titled “Selah: Contemplation Like a Child” is a collection of artwork that captures and explores the thought process of children.
“As I grow more aware of the human condition, I fall more in love with the lowliness and simplicity of children,” Huskey said. “I glorify the child in illuminated portraits, and I explore a sense of childlike reflection and discovery in abstract compositions. These paintings are my visceral responses to life which can be anything from a song of praise to a cry for help,” Huskey explains. “The title of my show is introduced with the term ‘Selah’, which means to pause and reflect, as an instruction to my audience to enter with me into a similar state of contemplation like a child.” |
