Shorter University celebrates Homecoming this Saturday with class reunions, football
September 29, 2010 - Shorter University will celebrate its Homecoming this Saturday, Oct. 2, with several activities planned for alumni and friends.
Saturday morning, the annual Shorter Alumni Baseball game will take place at 10 a.m. at the Ledbetter Baseball Complex. Former Shorter players that wish to participate in the game should contact Shorter’s head baseball coach, Matt Larry, at mlarry@shorter.edu. A new event has also been added to the morning’s activities. The Shorter Alumnae Women’s Basketball game will also be held at 10 a.m. inside the Winthrop-King Centre. |

Former women’s basketball team players wishing to participate in the game should contact assistant women’s basketball coach, Sandra Kostandinovic at skostandinovic@shorter.edu. Shorter alumni, friends of Shorter and local residents are welcome to watch both games free of charge.
Shorter’s annual alumni association meeting and lunch will be held at 12 noon. The luncheon will be held in the dining hall and tickets are available at the door for $8 per person.
The Shorter University football team will take the field at 3:30 p.m. to face off with Faulkner University. The game will take place at Barron Stadium in downtown Rome. General admission into the game is $10. Children five years old and under get in free, and non-Shorter University students (elementary, middle, high school and college) are admitted for $5. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 706-233-7641 or at the gate with cash only on game day.
Homecoming activities continue after the game as the Shorter University Theatre Department presents The Philadelphia Story at 7:30 p.m. in the Callaway Theatre. For tickets, call the university box office at 706-233-7288.
Several class reunion parties will be held that evening as well. Class parties for the years of 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005 will be held. For more information on class reunions, contact 706-233-7242.
