Artwork by Hamrick and HarbourGuest Artist Exhibit on display at Shorter's Arnold Gallery

September 9, 2010 - Works by Jesse Hamrick and Ray Harbour will be featured at Shorter University’s Guest Art Exhibit on display through Sept. 30 in the university’s Arnold Art Gallery. The exhibit, titled “Two Views Through Abstraction,” will encompass Harbour’s sensory, emotional and visionary art along with Hamrick’s devotion to studying human emotions, color theory and how light interacts with color. The exhibit is open to the public at no charge weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. An artists’ reception and lecture will be held Thursday, Sept. 30, at 2:30 at the gallery.

Harbour is an intuitive, self-taught visionary artist.  She forgoes brushes and uses her hands to apply paint.  Her work is sensory and emotional.  Signature pieces involve the layering and interweaving of human figures, animals, archetypes and natural elements. The artist states: “My art is an expressive reflection of the soul's journey through worlds seen and unseen.”

Hamrick is devoted to studying human emotions, researching color theory, and paying special attention to how light interacts with color. Hamrick's art can be found in several private art collections around the United States, as well as art galleries around the world. Hamrick said, “Art is a very personal and emotional experience. I hope that my art helps the viewer with this journey.”
