Shorter College launches social networking profiles in preparation of name change
May 25, 2010 - With a major name change less than 10 days away, Shorter College is already making its mark in the world of social media as Shorter University. Shorter College will officially change its name to Shorter University on June 1 at 10 a.m. during a special ceremony at the campus’ main entrance.
Even though the name change is not yet in effect, Shorter University accounts have been set up on Facebook and Twitter. Alumni, current students, friends and community members are welcome to follow Shorter through tweets, news postings and photo updates. “Maintaining our presence on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter is important to Shorter College and will be just as important when we become Shorter University,” said Dawn Tolbert, vice president for public relations. “Through our Web site (www.shorter.edu) and these social networking sites, we can keep everyone who shares an interest in Shorter informed about the latest news and events.”
Founded in 1873, Shorter College is a Christian college committed to excellence in education. Since 2003, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Shorter among the South’s best baccalaureate colleges. The college offers traditional bachelor’s degrees in 48 major areas as well as undergraduate degree programs for working adults, the Master of Business Administration, the Master of Education and the Master of Arts in Leadership.
