Shorter College art exhibit featuring the work of student Karlee Hicks

November 23 - A senior art exhibition featuring the works of Shorter College student Karlee Hicks will open on Dec. 1.

Hicks, an art major from Rome, will have her collection of works titled “A Volitional State of Mind Transmitted Telepathically” displayed in the college’s Arnold Gallery until Dec. 14. An opening reception will be held Dec. 1 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

“I believe that art is a completely personal encounter. What you feel when you see the paint on the canvas is what makes art continue through the ages,” Hicks says of her work. “I want you to see my art for the simple sheerness that it is. See what is in front of you and offered to your eyes. Do not try to take from it what is not there. Everything you need to know is in the colors and gestures on the canvases. There is no more. There is no less.”
