Shorter College hosting faculty gala at historic DeSoto
August 25 - Shorter College’s music department will host its annual Faculty Arts Gala on Monday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m., at Rome’s Historic DeSoto Theatre, 530 Broad St.
The gala will showcase the vocal and keyboard talents of music faculty and is designed to be a community event. “We do this gala every year for three main reasons,” said Dr. Matthew Hoch, assistant professor of music, who is coordinating the event. “The gala, being so close to the start of school, is a good way for us to jump start the new academic year. Another main reason we host this gala is to show our music students what we expect from them during a performance. We also want this to be a community event with an evening of great performances. Being inside the DeSoto will only add to that experience.”
Tickets to the event are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. To order, please call the Shorter College Box Office at 706-233-7288. The gala is collaboration between Shorter College School of the Arts and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation. Proceeds from the event will go directly toward the Historic DeSoto Theatre Restoration Fund.
