Shorter College announces incoming student scholarships for 2009-2010 academic year
May 6 - Fourteen incoming Shorter College students have been awarded scholarships that will either fully or partially pay their tuition, room and board beginning with the Aug. 24 start date of the college’s fall semester.
Two incoming freshmen, Nora Kathleen Simmers of Waycross and Elijah Matthew Miles of Carrollton, were awarded the Eubanks Scholarship. The Eubanks Scholarship provides tuition, room and board for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must hold at least a 3.75 grade point average and a 1300 SAT or 29 ACT score. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at Shorter.
Heather Mae Cherie Tolbert of Buchanan, Kathryn Elizabeth Stubbs, of Fort Valley and Emily Nicole Hanson of Blue Ridge were awarded the Presidential Scholarship. The Presidential Scholarship provides tuition for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must hold at least a 3.75 grade point average and a 1200 SAT or 26 ACT score. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average at Shorter.
Five students were awarded the Alfred E. Shorter Scholarship. This scholarship covers three-fourths of tuition costs for eight semesters, excluding summers. Recipients were: Noah Alan May of Ellijay; Colby Edward Young of Cedar Bluff, Ala.; Allison Breanna McDonald of Rome; Cali Rae Hulsey of Aragon and Dylan Edward Holtman of Adairsville.
Whitney Danielle Griffin of Rome, Nicholas Scott Hann of Cordova, Ala., Kelly Ann Weimar of Selden, N.J., and Angelica Lynette McClain of Panama City, Fla. were awarded the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship provides tuition for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a transfer student must hold at least a 3.5 grade point average and have completed at least 27 semester hours. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average at Shorter.
