Shorter College SIFE students named “Rookie of the Year”

April 9 - Shorter College’s Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team was recently named “Rookie of the Year” during a regional competition held in Atlanta. “Rookie” honors are given to outstanding teams in their first years of SIFE membership in each regional competition.

“I am extremely proud of the work this group has done in just one year,” said Nancy Mount, Shorter professor and Sam Walton Fellow sponsor for Shorter’s SIFE team. “SIFE is an organization that not only provides a great opportunity for leadership development for the students but also wonderful outcomes for the community. I am looking forward to significant growth and achievement in the years to come.”

At the regional competition, Shorter SIFE members presented their annual report from last year, which included information on past and current campus and community projects. SIFE also delivered a brief history of Shorter College and explained how the SIFE organization aligns with the mission and goals of the college.

Additionally, the SIFE team also won the Provost’s Award during Celebrate Shorter day, held April 1 at the college, and was nominated as an honorable mention for the President’s Gold Cup. Members of the Shorter SIFE team are Laurel Harmon, Natasha Wallace, Ashley Lewis, Anthony O’Garro, Darryl Fletcher, Seth Lindsay, Jill Gable (SIFE alumna), Jared Williams and Jerad Godsave.
