Shorter College announces student engagement and success team

In the continued effort to provide excellence in education, Shorter College has developed the Office of Student Engagement and Success.

“Shorter College has a long tradition of providing an atmosphere where students can learn and grow in a Christian environment. We have always been committed to helping each student realize their potential and the Student Engagement and Success Office is another demonstration of Shorter’s commitment to helping students,” said Dr. John Head, vice president of enrollment management at the college. “We want them to be successful academically and to help them make connections with the Shorter and Rome communities. We have assembled a talented and caring team that will provide students with support and guidance to help them get the most out of their college experience.”

Cindy McGehee Cindy McGehee will serve as director of student engagement and success. In this role, she will oversee the college’s academic support and retention efforts. McGehee joined Shorter’s staff in 2006 as a peer tutoring coordinator. She previously served as a tutor at the Darlington School and worked with many community initiatives. A graduate of Auburn University, McGehee and her husband, Rob, reside in Rome.
   
Tracy Batchelor Tracy Batchelor has been named assistant director of student engagement and success. Additionally, she will serve as Shorter’s first year experience coordinator. In these roles, she will work closely with freshman coursework, advise students and coordinate learning community development. Batchelor joined Shorter’s staff in 2005 as assistant director of institutional relations. She recently completed a Master of Arts in leadership from Shorter College and holds a Bachelor of Arts in public relations from Berry College. She and her husband, Robbie, reside in Rome.

Stephanie Davidson Stephanie Davidson joins Shorter as assistant director of student engagement and success and coordinator of the Center for Learning and Academic Success at Shorter (CLASS). Davidson will be responsible for academic advising and coordinating academic support efforts. Prior to this position, Davidson worked at the Boys and Girls Club; she also has more than 22 years of experience in counseling.

She holds a Master of Business Administration from Shorter and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of West Georgia. She and her husband, Henry, reside in Rome.

Additionally, Patty Hunter and Jennifer Sikes will continue to oversee the college’s tutoring center and writing center, respectively.
