Shorter Welcomes New Public Relations Specialist
Aimee L. Harmison has joined the staff of Shorter College’s Office of Institutional Relations.
Selected as the college’s public relations specialist, Harmison will assist with the college’s bi-annual magazine and monthly alumni electronic newsletter, along with other projects designed to highlight the accomplishments of Shorter’s students, faculty and alumni.
Harmison has worked for more than nine years in the mass communications industry, specializing in print and Internet media, as well as photojournalism, making her a perfect fit for the job, said Dawn Tolbert, director of institutional relations. |

“We are pleased to welcome Aimee Harmison to Shorter’s public relations team. Her high degree of professionalism and firsthand knowledge of the media will be great assets in her work to promote the college,” Tolbert said.
Most recently, Harmison served as editor for The Cedartown Standard, where she earned several awards for her coverage of education related topics.
“I am very excited to begin work here as the college’s public relations specialist,” Harmison said. “Shorter is a wonderful place for students to grow academically and emotionally, and it’s now my responsibility to help the public understand what a wonderful asset this college is, not only in the local community, but nationally.”
A resident of Cedartown, Harmison graduated from Cedartown High School in 1998. She then attended Georgia Highlands College and the State University of West Georgia, where she studied mass communications.
