Presidential, Eubanks and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships Awarded to Outstanding Students
Presidential Scholarship
The following students have received the Presidential Scholarship at Shorter College in Rome, Ga. The Presidential Scholarship provides tuition for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must hold at least a 3.75 grade point average and a 1800 SAT or 26 ACT score. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average at Shorter.
Myra Lynn Compton, a native of Summerville, Ga., is a graduate of Trion High School. She is the daughter of Richard and Teresa Compton.
Cheryl Elizabeth Culp, a native of Rome, Ga., is a graduate of Rome High School. She is the daughter of Millisa Culp.
Brooke Nichole Dearing, a native of Cleveland, Ga., is a graduate of White County High School. She is the daughter of Barry and Michelle Dearing.
Sarah Elizabeth Dunham, a native of Suwanee, Ga., is a graduate of Flowery Branch High School. She is the daughter of Richard and Hildy Dunham.
Wesley Ryan Ferguson, a native of Fort Gaines, Ga., is a graduate of Early County High School. He is the son of Wanda Ferguson.
Justin Ryan Gentry, a native of Summerville, Ga., is a graduate of Trion High School. He is the son of Jana Human.
Kelsey Nicole Mauldin, a native of Canton, Ga., is a graduate of Woodstock High School. She is the daughter of the Rev. Ronald Mauldin and Cindy Mauldin.
Michael Thomas Phillips, a native of Cave Spring, Ga., is a graduate of Coosa High School. He is the son of Larry and Donna Phillips.
Christopher Lee Sumner, a native of Blakely, Ga., is a graduate of Early County High School. He is the son of Christopher and Sheila Sumner.
Laura Anne Watson, a native of Peachtree City, Ga., is a graduate of Starr’s Mill High School. She is the daughter of Butch and Catherine Watson.
Lindsey Ellen Woodall, a native of Braselton, Ga., is a graduate of Heritage Academy. She is the daughter of Matt and Tracy Woodall.
Eubanks Scholarship
The following students have received the Eubanks Scholarship at Shorter College in Rome, Ga. The Eubanks Scholarship provides tuition, room and board for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must hold at least a 3.75 grade point average and a 1800 SAT or 26 ACT score. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at Shorter.
James William Boney, a home-schooled student from Claxton, Ga., is the son of Mike and Karen Boney.
Crystal Jeanette Lyons, a native of Stockbridge, Ga., is a graduate of Stockbridge High School. She is the daughter of Selina Lyons.
Ryan Joseph O’Leary, a native of Marietta, Ga., is a graduate of Pebblebrook High School. He is the son of Ken and Cindy O’Leary.
Christopher Chellis Vizurraga, a native of Watkinsville, Ga., is a graduate of Oconee County High School. He is the son of Felix and Susan Vizurraga.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
The following students have received the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship at Shorter College in Rome, Ga. The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship provides tuition for eight semesters, excluding summers. To qualify for this scholarship, a transfer student must hold at least a 3. 5 grade point average and have completed at least 27 semester hours. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.25 cumulative grade point average at Shorter.
Kora Danielle Ammons, a native of Chelsea, Ala., is the daughter of Byron and Donna Ammons.
Katrina Barclay, a native of Bryant, Ala., is a graduate of North Sand Mountain High School.
Amanda Shea Rogers, a native of Athens, Ala., is a graduate of Wallace Rose Hill High School. She is the daughter of Randall and Teresa Rogers.
Heather Ashley Deiters, a home-schooled student from Cartersville, Ga., is the daughter of Thomas and Kay Deiters.
Joseph Henry Johnson III, a native of Cedartown, Ga., is a graduate of Cedartown High School. He is the son of Joseph Johnson.
Shorter’s fall semester classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 20.
